Reproductive desire comes as an outcome of personal development that may strengthen in time due to biological and social reasons. Our personality as a combination of genetic make-up family dynamics, and social structure is the main factor of our reproducibility – including identity; sexuality and sexual behaviour; desire to reproduce and family planning. Encountering difficulties to conceive is a social phenomenon. Factors affecting fertility include mainly dysfunctions of the human genetic system, (maternal) age, BMI, and smoking. All of the above in combination to psychogenic aetiology including stress may complicate reproduction further.

Life happens, so does infertility. It is advisable for people who live with infertility to come to terms with it.

All couples attending Embryo ART Unit are offered consultation by our Psychologist – Sociologist Dr. Maria Panagos who is an experienced Infertility Counsellor trained by BICA (British Infertility Counseling Association). Consultation is free of charge.
